Dicaeidae (Flowerpeckers)

  • Phylogenetic placement: Passeri: Passerides: Passerida: Dicaeoidea
  • Distribution: Indian Subcontinent, South East Asia, Wallacea, Philippines, Australia and New Guinea
  • Number of extant genera: 3
  • Number of extant species: 56

Traditional genus-level classification of extant Dicaeidae following the AviList checklist v2025. (link) The number of subspecies is given in parentheses. The phylogenetic arrangement is based on Nyári et al. (2009) and Saucier et al. (2019). Both authors recovered the species olivacea as independent from the genera Pachyglossa and Prionochilus. DeRaad et al. (2025) showed that Dicaeum hypoleucum does not contain more than two or three subspecies.
