This superfamily comprises only one family, the Mesitornithidae (mesites), with three species endemic to Madagascar:

• Mesitornis variegata (White-breasted mesite)
  
• Mesitornis unicolor (Brown Mesite)
  
• Monias benschi (Subdesert Mesite)
